Autobytel, a leading internet automotive marketing services company, owns and
operates four popular Web sites--Autobytel.com, Autoweb.com, Carsmart.com, and
Autosite.com--and a leading provider of automotive marketing data and technology--AIC
(Automotive Information Center). With approximately 9,400 dealer relationships
and 30 international automotive-manufacturer customers, Autobytel is the largest
syndicated car-buying content network, with a potential exposure to more than
90 percent of total Web traffic. In 2001, Autobytel dealers generated US$ 17
billion in car sales, capturing an estimated 4 percent of domestic sales of new
vehicles in the US.
In February 2001, Autobytel signed up Leverage Systems Technologies to build
its customer relationship management programs. Autobytel envisioned a baseline
development platform and methodology to build fast and reliable websites for
its affiliates worldwide. The result was Autobytel Canada, the first baseline
site to be built from the ground up, servicing the buying needs of the Canadian
car buyers and the marketing leads of the Canadian car dealers. Autobytel.ca,
as it is popularly called, showcases innovative development methodology such as
"Extreme Programming" to facilitate fast paced programming and the use of web
services in websites.
In January 2002, Leverage Systems Technologies built another CRM site
for Autobytel. Called RPM (for Retention, Performance, and Marketing),
this site marks Autobytel's entry into the service reminder business.
Through RPM, registered dealers deliver service reminders to car owners via e-mail,
direct mail, and call center. RPM also sends out direct mail materials such
as maintenance promotions, coupons, discounts, and other service reminder perks. |
