InfoVista

InfoVista software is based on a multi-tier architecture that is uniquely capable of supporting the most challenging performance management requirements. The architecture includes three layers. The Collection and Analysis layer provides a fully distributed, highly scalable approach to managing global infrastructures. The Data Consolidation layer provides an extremely efficient and easily manageable environment to centralize performance data from across an organization's global infrastructure. The Information Presentation layer is designed for an increasingly varied user-base that demands real-time visibility into infrastructure performance. InfoVista offers a powerful Automation and Management module to manage the software environment, as well as an Infrastructure Integration module that leverages an "adapter" technology to create pre-built integrations with related applications. The architecture supports a range of powerful Solutions.

Collection and Analysis

InfoVista offers four discrete products at the Collection and Analysis layer of our architecture: InfoVista Server, Vista Views, VistaBridge, Vista Plug-in Family, and Vista Plugin for NetFlow. The Collection and Analysis layer provides a fully distributed, highly scalable approach to managing global infrastructures. By incorporating patented technology into this layer, InfoVista can be adapted dynamically to collect and analyze the performance of any IT infrastructure environment, as well as any service or application running on that infrastructure. InfoVista's approach overcomes the inherent limitations of a static model that requires substantial cost and effort to adapt to a changing infrastructure environment.

Working in real-time, the Collection and Analysis layer of InfoVista's multi-tier architecture polls performance metrics from virtually any source and performs millions of highly sophisticated real-time calculations. This layer provides a powerful network, system and application performance management solution that can scale to meet the most comprehensive SLM requirements.

Data Consolidation

InfoVista's VistaMart constitutes the Data Consolidation layer of our multi-tier architecture. The Data Consolidation layer provides an extremely efficient and easily manageable environment in which performance data from across an organization's global infrastructure is centralized. As the volume of such performance data can quickly grow to an unmanageable level, InfoVista leverages a multi-tier architecture that consolidates high-quality data at the Data Consolidation layer, while maintaining the atomic- level data at the Collection and Analysis layer.

The data model provides a link between the two layers that enables seamless drill down access into the atomic-level detail as required. In addition, customers can integrate data from business systems (e.g., help desks or billing systems) within the Data Consolidation layer to correlate the impact of infrastructure performance on business results. The efficiency and flexibility of the Data Consolidation layer provides an elegant approach to implementing a global view of infrastructure performance.

Information Presentation

InfoVista's Information Presentation layer includes VistaPortal Standard Edition, VistaPortal, and Displets customizable components that can display information within the portal page. The Information Presentation layer is designed for an increasingly varied user-base (e.g., business executives, infrastructure managers, IT staff and customers) that demands real-time visibility into infrastructure performance. Because the products in this layer are accessible by a secure Web browser, service providers and large enterprises can rapidly deploy the InfoVista solution to internal users, as well as to their customer base. The content and format of these products is fully customizable and linked to an administration and security model that ensures a fully personalized user experience.

The products can be integrated into a web portal and re-branded for a growing number of organizations whose strategy is to add value by providing customers with direct access to real-time, service level metrics. Our information presentation products provide a powerful interface for the most sophisticated, user-centric SLM programs.

Automation and Management

The Automation and Management module is designed to generate breakthroughs in productivity as well as provide complete redundancy for an organization's 7x24, mission-critical performance management operation. The module includes VistaProvisioner. The module dynamically incorporates changes in technical and business topologies into the InfoVista architecture to maintain a reliable and up-to-date model of the monitored environment. This approach reduces operating expense by eliminating manual interventions, hand-offs, redundancies, and errors. The Automation and Management module provides both protection from data collection failures and closed-loop capabilities that are prerequisites to implementing next-generation, service-oriented performance management solutions.
