Equant N.Y. was contracted by a U.S. store chain to establish Local Area Networks
in its worldwide offices and install the necessary office and application systems.
The store chain wanted to set up a procurement office in the Philippines,
with no more than 20 finance and administrative staff. The IT LAN system
for the Philippine office comprised 13 workstations, with printers and other
peripherals. The LANs were an integrated part of a worldwide Wide Area
Network that was also being established.
Subsequently, Equant sub-contracted part of the project to Leverage Systems Technologies (LST).
The services of LST included planning and design, site survey and preparation,
IT systems staging and installation, user training, maintenance, and support.
The initial system requirements were determined by the Store chain and relayed to
LST by Equant. These were subsequently refined to suit the local environment and
requirements. LST and Equant finalized the design, plan, and budget which LST
subsequently implemented. LST provided not only the technical expertise in the
staging and installation of the IT systems, but also the knowledge required for
successful local implementation.
The IT systems were installed--and are currently being maintained--by LST,
without any Equant personnel having to visit the Philippines. The result--substantial
savings for both Equant and the store chain.
